Spiritual Works of Mercy
Come together to pray throughout the service for the people you will serve.
Pray the Rosary for the people you are helping.
Go to Mass together and offer your communion for the mothers and children who are in the shelter or who will receive the blankets.
Recommendations:
Plan ahead of who is going to represent the youth group in handing out the items?
Remember to take photos and share them on networks. Tag the organization, the parish, your group.
We invite you to use the #jornalerosministry too.
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones,* for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father." Mt. 18, 10
During your class session or group night:
See what the fabric requirements are on the different websites or ask before hand the organization you are planning to help.
Invite participants to buy the material. They only need a yard of each fleece.
One piece of fabric will be with a baby print and the other with a solid color.
You complete this project using 15 minutes each time you meet until it is finished, or do it in one session.
Try to include spiritual works of mercy also.
Before starting, make sure that the place where you are going to put the fabrics on is clean.
If it is going to last more than one session, has bags of plastic for each blanket and a piece of masking tape to put the blanket creator's name on the bag.
The blankets will most likely have to be washed before donating them. Ask about what kind of soap they need to be washed in.
